3 Back to school tips for wearing glasses with a mask

With the summer coming to a close and schools reopening, students and teachers all around the world will be faced with transitioning back into a classroom wearing a mask. Many students and teachers will find this uncomfortable and difficult and nose marks will abound. Those that wear glasses will find it even more challenging. Today we're going to look at some tips to make wearing glasses with your mask easier and more comfortable.

#1: Proper Placement

The easiest fix to stop your glasses from fogging up and keep your nose more comfortable while wearing a mask is proper layering. I recommend pulling your mask higher on your nose and placing your glasses on top of it. Your glasses will push the fabric down forming a seal. This will reduce the amount of warm air coming up and out of your mask that fogs up your glasses.

#2: Simple Soap and Water

Gently soak your glasses in some soapy water. I recommend using dish soap with no added lotions or moisturizers. After washing your glasses in the solution wipe off the excess liquid and let air dry, making sure you leave on at least some of your solution. You'll see a slight film on your lenses, that will help prevent condensation. Speak to wherever you got your glasses before doing this as some lenses have a coating that might reduce or cancel the effects of this method.

#3: Anti-Fog Wipes and Spray

You can find a variety of anti-fog wipes and sprays online that are designed to keep glasses clean and clear of any fogging and are very effective in doing so. Similar to step tip #2 check with your optometrist before buying as certain coatings will have an impact the effectiveness of these sprays.

If you have to wear a mask and glasses together, a nose fender will keep the nose marks and dents from showing up!
